Today is January 1, 2009. This is typically the day where we all crawl out of bed, stifle the pounding of our heads by gulping Tylenol, and start working on the resolutions we made the night before while lamenting this is our last day of "vacation" before we have to drag our merry behinds back to work.
I gave up on resolutions several years ago when it became clear that I a) Can't stick to one to save my life, and b) Realized that resolutions can be made ANY day of the year, not just the first. But this year, I have some rather personal resolutions that are tied to three major transitions in my life beyond my control.

My kids made out like bandits this Christmas. They got so many presents - both sets of Grandparents, 2 pairs of Aunts/Uncles, us and, of course, Santa. My gosh, it was amazing! Presents everywhere! However, I was a bit nervous a few days out, due to the following conversation with my 4 year old daughter. We were walking into out local Ross store - in and of itself not the wisest move - and she asked if she could have a dress. ( Apparently she remembers how happy Mommy was this past summer to find dresses she actually liked for under $10 each) Anyway, it went like this:

Christmas has never been my favorite holiday. I guess that's what working retail for so many years does to you. All those long hours, crabby customers, and the endless drove of continuous Christmas tuneage does nothing for one's holiday cheer.
