Yes, even heartless people give thanks, and D'Zhana Simmons and her family have a lot to be thankful for. When the fourteen year old was diagnosed with an enlarged heart that was too weak to sufficiently pump blood, the family traveled from their home in South Carolina to Holtz Children's Hospital in Miami for a heart transplant. But surgeons had to remove the new heart after only two days because it was not working properly and could have ruptured.As D'Zhana waited for another heart, she lived the next 118 days in a most unusual way. In her own words, she felt like a "fake person".Her experience is nothing short of incredible... and incredibly brave.
