Yet Another Post About Chicken
We think Julie has a great idea. She wrote a letter to PlanetFeedback where she suggested KFC/A&W keep later hours in order to attract late-night workers. She had a hankering for a bite to eat after work around 10 p.m. and found the chain restaurant closed. That got us thinking back to our first job ~ we worked as a cashier at grocery store chain in Florida. Most days we worked, after a full day of high school, from 4 to 11 p.m.
Sure, since it was a grocery store, it was relatively easy to grab something to eat over our break, but what was a teenaged girl supposed to do when she was hungry after work? When she didn't have the luxury of eating dinner with Mom and Dad? You bet she went out looking for a place that was open to grab a quick nosh.
A practical rational suggestion for a business. And that's just part of the reason that Julie's letter is so great. She also wrote it as a suggestion rather a demand and we're a firm believer in you catch more flies with honey then you do with vinegar.
Whether KFC listens and considers her idea, we don't know, but it seems to us that attracting customers and hiring new workers (especially in this economy) is a great win-win for both the consumer and the economy. Furthermore, customers are starting to look more towards cheaper "fast food" to fill their bellies rather than going out to sit-down restaurants.
So we think this is definitely a niche that needs more than just late night at the Bell.
