It's the post-season in the National Football League and many palates have a hankering for what's been characteristically thought of as football food ~ nachos, mini burgers, and, of course, wings.
If you're a wing aficionado and you're in the Chicago area, it sounds like Jake Melnick's Corner Tap is the place to be if you want to set your mouth on fire. The word is that the wings at this restaurant, made with the Red Savina pepper, are so hot that patrons have to sign a release, promising not to sue for injury. Yowza... that's hot.
The restaurant will be providing the daring with an alarm bell to summon wait staff quickly as well as sour cream, bread, sugar and milk to put out the flames.
These babies are HOT! Red Savina peppers are habaneros, and they are considered some of the world's hottest. The Red Savina held a world record for just that honor until 2006.
So if you're feeling brave (or maybe you just don't like your taste buds all that much) maybe you should give these wings a try. However.... just to warn you, use the palate-cooling ideas above. Do NOT drink water. Trust us, you will not like the results.
